Why I Want to Work for The Holdsworth Center

In my 11+ years in the creative industry, I’ve been searching for a meaningful role where I can use my background in animation, videography, and writing (as well as photography, graphic design, and operations if it’s useful!) to contribute to a cause I’m passionate about—education. I’d be honored to be a part of your mission to impact the quality of Texas K-12 public education.

I’ve handled every part of the video process...

  • Strategy

identifying target audiences, defining project goals, aligning with strategic company initiatives, creating content plans, filling out project briefs, writing story concepts

  • Art Direction

researching inspiration, creating mood boards, leading brainstorm sessions, ensuring brand consistency, providing constructive feedback, introducing new trends and technologies

  • Video Production

storyboarding, writing scripts, recording audio, directing, lighting, filming, editing, animating, creating motion graphics

  • Project Management

juggling multiple projects, tracking progress, managing timelines, keeping stakeholders updated, holding post-mortems

  • Analysis

gathering feedback, interpreting analytics, iterating and improving

  • Operations

designing efficient processes, organizing files and assets, creating brand libraries, documenting internal procedures and best practices, cross-collaborating with stakeholders

…across many programs.

And my career path has directly prepared me for this role:

2012-2015

Video Lead for a university

  • Worked on film shoots with professional camera, audio, and lighting equipment with subjects ranging from students and faculty to deans and the university president

  • Edited long and short video stories targeted at prospective students

  • Trained and led a team of videographers

  • Managed inventory of video supplies and equipment

2015-2018

Multimedia Designer for a marketing agency

  • Worked exclusively for social good campaigns and nonprofits

  • Produced videos and animations, as well as photography, websites, logos, presentations, and social media assets

  • Owned each phase of the production process from concept to post production, including pitching ideas, writing scripts, sketching storyboards, and creating media

  • Wrote scripts and interviewed subjects

  • Trained internal teams on video and audio best practices

2018-present

Lead Content Producer for a large tech company

  • Provide art direction, mockups, and any necessary briefs on multimedia projects, including videos, animations, graphics, web design, and presentation decks

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to ensure consistent brand representation is met across all touchpoints

  • Mentor, train, and provide feedback to videographers and designers

  • Optimize processes to improve efficiency and scaleability, including creating an internal knowledgebase, establishing a project management workflow, creating extensive asset directories, and bridging the communication gap between departments

I also love learning.

I’m obsessed with conferences, meetups, workshops, industry slack channels, and anything else I can find to stay up to date on what’s happening in the industry to inform my work and make it stronger.

I love teaching.

My greatest passion is empowering others to be their best. I regularly speak at my alma mater to share my knowledge with students, provide mentoring to teammates, and give one-on-one advice to those that schedule time during my office hours.

And I’d love to be a part of The Holdsworth Center.

I hope you feel the same because I’m excited to talk more about how I can bring everything I’ve learned into this Video Producer role.

I look forward to hearing from you.

But in case you need more convincing…

  • "Kat is one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. Her skills, experience, and leadership qualities can only be overshadowed by her genuine humility and kindness. I would absolutely hire Kat again in a heartbeat. Any company would be lucky to have her."

    Dean Onishi,
    Education Director at Rippling

  • "Kat is not only a great content creator, but also has the chops to bring teams together on big hairy cross functional issues. Kat's stakeholder mapping prowess is a skill that is lost on many projects at Procore, but not Kat's. She could teach a class on it."

    Kassy Slaughter,
    Head of Construction Education

  • "To say that Kat plays a role in Procore's longterm strategy would be an understatement. I honestly cannot say enough in terms of how much of an integral part Kat has played in our team success. We absolutely would not be where we are today if not for her."

    Amanda Bridgers,
    Content Ops Lead at Procore

  • "Kat is truly stellar in the way that she actively seeks ways to improve the lives and jobs of her coworkers and our end-users. She has a great skillset, but that coupled with her eye for problem-solving is really what makes her so unique"

    Colleen Lai,
Instructional Design Senior Manager at Procore
